Rotherham Opera
Tales Untapped: an opera imagined by the young people of Rotherham.
25 & 26 November, Magna Science Adventure Centre
It’s coming! Rotherham is set to host its first ever opera in partnership with the Royal Ballet and Opera (RBO), in what will also be the UK’s largest community opera.
Debuting at Magna Science Adventure Centre on 25 and 26 November and created with more than 2,000 young people from the borough, ‘Tales Untapped’ will be an opera like no other, celebrating Rotherham becoming the world's first Children's Capital of Culture in 2025.
With sweeping storylines, powerful music and wonderful choreography, the children and young people of Rotherham are ready to wow crowds with their very own opera, done their way.
‘Tales Untapped’ has come to life through a partnership with Rotherham Music, the RBO, Grimm & Co and Children’s Capital of Culture, who have worked with children and young people from all 25 wards of the borough this year to create a wholly unique opera. From storylines to set design, and composition to costuming, Rotherham’s young people have taken charge and created something truly imaginative.
It’s not to be missed! Keep an eye on our socials and this web page for more information, including how to get a ticket to the final performances.
